Literally, just finished watching the first episode. The premise
of the show, for those of you who don’t know is, an irresponsible prince gets roped
into joining a collaborative training camp for North and South Korea. On the
threat of being kicked out of the monarchy, the South Korean Prince Lee Jae Ha
(Lee Seung Gi) has no choice but to join the team. He soon meets the only
female member of either team, North Korean Special Forces Officer Kim Hang Ah (
Ha Ji Won). From first impressions they don’t like each other, but then it
seems as though Jae Ha is going to have a problem with almost everyone in the
show. This little prince has no desire to be king, let alone do or help anyone
else but himself. Seung Gi is very convincing as the spoiled and careless
prince. But I already knew that from his previous role in Shining Inheritance.
I’m sure the time spent with kick-ass Hang Ah will make him
mature.
I wanted to watch this show because of Ha Ji Won, if you
haven’t noticed I love girls that give as good as they get. Girl Power!! Ha Ji Won
doesn’t disappoint here either. Even in the first episode, she found the time
the beat the living crap out of some North Korean officer. What did she get for
her trouble? A split lip. Classic. :)
The writers are doing a good job of making her more than one dimensional. Even though
she had to wipe the floor with some guy, other aspects of her personality were
shown. She went on a blind date where she was shy and unsure, and upon entering South Korea and seeing posters of Bi (Rain) and Hyun Bin she
turned into a fan girl. Hopping up and down in her seat, she listed off facts
about each man, and gushed about their military merits.
I think this is going to be a really good show. If you were
hesitating to watch this one like I was, I say just jump right in, I doubt you’ll
be disappointed.
