Goddess of Marriage Episode 2 Recap

The second episode starts up a little before the end of the last episode, showing the scene where Hyun Woo
asks The Dreamer to meet him in the evening at the beach they first met at. as we know from episode 1, he never makes the meeting. Now we get to see why.
After leaving her, he catches a plane to Seoul and meets a co-worker, they have to change the blue prints for a  job. the co-worker gives some info about the building owner's family, saying that they have a slush fund
but it shouldn't effect their work. It takes up most of the day to change and get the changes approved, and so when Hyun Woo makes it back to the beach, it's evening and The Dreamer has already left. He spends all night sitting and waiting on the beach. Probably kicking himself for missing her, or wondering if she was ever even there.

Back in Seoul The Dreamer and Tae Wook are talking in a cafe, after he intercepts her return from Jeju. Tae  Wook asks what she did in Jeju, and Dreamer lies and says that she only walked around. He's mad that she left for Jeju without telling him, and it comes out that she's mad that he gave her $1 Million. She feels overwhelmed by his family and their wealth, thinking that their families don't match up and she's not good enough for their expectations.

They leave the cafe and wind up on an overpass and even a change of location doesn't help. They end the argument because neither can fully understand where the other is coming from.

He drops her off at home, waving at her back, but she never turns around to see the cute gesture.

Somewhere else in Seoul The Good Wife goes around the house turning off lights, taking her in-laws bedtime tea and over hears their conversation. They know that her husband cheats, and her mother-in-law thinks that by rubbing her face in that fact, will help The Good Wife survive the harsh realities of marrying money. They have no intention of trying to restrain their son even to keep face. The Mother-in-Law reminds her husband that they were similar back-in-the-day, and he tries to shush her. She tells him to give the gallery to Good Wife if he doesn't want to hear about the past and he threatens the throw a newspaper.

Standing outside their door Good Wife hears all this, and just silently goes to her bedroom where she tries to give her husband the cold shoulder. He asks to talk.
She says  "That's what his other women are for."
"I don't talk to them, ever. They are like a gym or treadmill. They are exercise"
"You're too much"
"You don't need to jealous of things like that"
He grabs her in a back hug and shoves her onto the bed, even though she struggles, he just snickers and says "I'm making you exercise".

After the abuse, the camera takes us out of the room to show the happy photos of the past. Good Wife gets out of bed to do more cleaning and sullenly throws a tea cup.

Good Wife wakes up at 4 am to  get fresh caught fish for the breakfast that her mother-in-law requested. At the sushi restaurant she sees a fish that lives even though the chef has used a technique that usually kills fish in an hour. maybe she sees a parallel between herself and the fish : surviving when by all accounts you should be dead.

In another house in Seoul, after the sun is up, The Dreamer is at The Fishwife's house, they are sisters, and they are preparing breakfast for Fishwife's husband and three kids. Fishwife seems just as disturbed by Tae Wook's wealth, but she thinks that The Dreamer did the wrong thing by running to Jeju, and that The Dreamer is using her head instead of her heart to make the decision to marry Tae Wook. She yells for her husband and kids to get up. When the girls still lay in bed, she barges in and yanks them up by their hair.

As she drives them to school, the teenage daughter talks of finding a rich husband like Tae Wook for herself after more plastic surgeries and becoming a weather forecaster. when she says "I don't think Aunt likes Tae Wook, can I marry him instead?" Fishwife stomps on the break and makes the eldest girl and boy to get out of the car. When the boy asks why he has to get out since he didn't do anything wrong. Fishwife says "When are your finals?" He doesn't know, but he know the answer to some trivia question, so she tells them to take the train.

At work she is harassed by the VP in the elevator up to the office. When she does get to her office, she turns her anger on her subordinates.

Hyun Woo searches the internet for information about The Dreamer, at the same time she remembers the fun and sexy times they had together in Jeju.

In a dance studio, somewhere else in Seoul, The Clueless One dances for fitness before washing up and running over to English Speaker's office. The receptionist tells her that he is not in, so she sits to wait.

Meanwhile he and his co-anchor are going at it hot and heavy in a hotel room. When his cell phone shows that his wife is calling, he throws a shoe at it and continues his afternoon quickie. after the sex ends, we find out that co-anchor is married to an older white guy who is currently out of the country, but who'll be back next month.

When they get back to office, The Clueless One is still waiting. English Speaker, tries to hide, even when his wife is right in his face. Then drags her off to reprimand her for coming to the office without notice. Fortunately. Clueless is a complete pushover. she questions him about why she should notify him if she's just visiting her husbands workplace saying "are you hiding something?" and he pushes her into a pole, and she yells at him for making her feel bad and pushing her, before he starts to really try pushing her away,
finally in order to keep the situation from getting bigger, she says that she'll leave. as she walks away, she hears English Speaker telling a co-worker that she was a sale-woman. she cries only when she makes it home.

As she cries she calls her sister-in-law, none other than Fishwife. Fishwife hangs up because she's trying to shop for the family, even though these are work hours. In the store she sees three subordinates, and as she tries to avoid them, she runs into a sample station and has milk poured  all over her.

She makes it back to her car without being seen, but the car parked next to hers, has passenger exit, and it turns out to be the mean VP, who laughs at her milk body, sees that she was shopping during work, and tells her that she's fired.

That evening Good Wife is preparing for dinner, and Dreamer is coming with Tae Wook. Ta eWook's mom asks why she hasn't come to visit, saying that Good Wife used to visit everyday for 3 months after their wedding date was set. Tae Wook tries to intervene and his mom tells him to be quiet. She tells Dreamer that she shouldn't act the way she has been. When Dreamer apologizes, Mother-in-law, heavily places her hand on Dreamers thigh saying "that's right, that's what you should say. don't do it anymore. You should go help your sister-in-law in the kitchen" Dreamer looks horrified, and Tae Wook can tell.

When she gets into the kitchen, she asks to help, to which Good Wife replies "You can help when you officially marry into the family" so Dreamer washes vegetables before telling her that people at the broadcasting company have been asking after Good Wife. Immediately it looks like Good Wife has swallowed more lemons than ever and she directly warns Dreamer "talking about the jobs we had before marriage is prohibited, mother and father don't like it, especially the broadcast station".

On the way home, Dreamer looks shell-shocked and is silent. When Tae Wook stops the car at the light, the car next to them contains Hyun Woo, and for once in K-Land peripheral vision works as he turns to see her sitting with Tae Wook.

My Thoughts
It seems that every one of these relationships has infidelity going one. I haven't seen anything like that from Fishwife's family but then again they seem to have enough problems. Honestly, after getting a better look at her kids, I kinda understand why she's so tough. Her husband seems a bit laissezfaire, her eldest is in college but he's more interested in wild theories and comics than his education, and her eldest daughter only has a man with money on her mind.

I'm happy that Clueless can stand up for herself, even the wind goes out of her sails quickly, something is better than nothing.

I think Good Wife, Dreamer and Clueless should all run for the hills and save what's left of their lives, but if they all did that, this wouldn't be a drama.

Haven't made up my mind between Tae Wook and Hyun Woo because they both seem like good guys, but Tae Wook family is nuts! If he's willing to immigrate, I think they may be able to be happy, if not...i don't think it's going to work out. On the other hand Hyun Woo is reminding me of Jae Hee from 'When A Man Loves' - meeting on a business/vacation trip? Check. Trying to track her down? Check. Seems too good to be true? Double-check!
Well if nothing else, I'm looking forward to next week. I think this was a good first week. What about you?
