Goddess of Marriage Episode 4 Recap

*Sorry for the delay, there were a few very serious things going on n my life this week. Car crashes, hospital stays and computer deaths just to name the most time consuming. But I'm back and operational :). I hope you enjoy*

Episode 4 starts off exactly where 3 ended. After seeing each other for the first time since Jeju, Dreamer is shocked but tells her co-worker to go back to the office without her. She and Hyun Woo go to a nearby cafe, and as they sit across from each other, the tension is thick. Hyun Woo starts by telling her that he tried to contact her. She says "I know, I got the message, but I didn't contact you because I didn't want to continue our relationship." Hyun Woo is shocked and hurt by how cold Dreamer is being. He tells her that he'll just sit and finish his drink before leaving. He looks so pitiful, and she can't figure out why and says "I don't understand why you getting mad! You didn't even show up to our meeting."
That's when it hits him, she's mad because she thinks he stood her up, but Dreamer is already running away. He chases after her and grabs hold to stop her from leaving. He tells her that he did go to their meeting place, but was too late, but now that he's found her, he doesn't plan on letting her go again, and wants to keep seeing her.

Meanwhile at her sister's house, Fishwife is welcoming Tae Wook. He brings a fruit basket and after a few niceties they sit down to talk.  Fishwife asks if you know's that he's been bad, and he acknowledges that he has been. She says that they will only accept half of the money that he wanted to give, and that in the future, he should be careful with Dreamers pride, because she is really very sensitive. After promising to do better, the atmosphere changes and they settle into an easy banter with each other. She even sends him to the market for dinner supplies.

When Dreamer gets home, everyone is sitting down to eat, but all she can say is "Hey, you're here" to Tae Wook before going to change her clothes. She ends up with thoughts of Hyun Woo running through her head.

At Clueless' house English Speaker aka Seung Soo, is primping in front of the mirror as she looks on. She asks where he's going his day off, to which he responds "Why do I have to tell you, can't I spend today without you?!" That's the final straw for Clueless and she gets right in his face asking if he's cheating on her with Cynthia. That she say them at the restaurant. He denies it all saying that he and Cynthia just work together, and that he can talk to her about more subjects, and can she please (literally) back up.
Outside he runs into his brother-in-law Jang Soo, Jang Soo's son and his own son on their way to the sauna. Jang Soo invites him to go as well but he declines. He says that since he's a celebrity, people always notice him and then stare at his privates. Jang Soo doesn't really think that's an excuse, but Seung Soo, leaves anyway.
He goes to a hotel, plays golf, sits the their hot-tub and has lunch, before calling Cynthia to ask when her husband is leaving. Meanwhile, Clueless cleans the bathroom at her mother-in-law's house.

At Tae Wook's house, his parents are arguing over Tae Jin's decision to try politics, they go back and forth for a while, before the mother says that she'll divorce him and take Tae Jin with her, if he doesn't give his consent. He calls her bluff and says "Okay. That's the best thing you've come up with."

Upstairs, Good Wife asks Tae Jin, not to make her appear on television. That it's been so long and she'll be nervous. He takes her into his arms and says that she's his Jacquline to his JFK, and he needs her.
It doesn't work for her, she still doesn't to do it. Finally he says "This is strange, don't you remember how we met?"
This starts a flashback where Good Wife is interviewing Tae Jin, and she was beautiful, confident and full of life, then. He was charmed and after the recording, asks her point-blank if she's seeing anyone. The rest they say, is history. As the flash back ends, Good Wife looks sad and resolved that she won't be getting out of this situation.

Later, her mother-in-law sits next to her in the art gallery as they  paint with other students. That, however, doesn't stop her from chastising her. Mi Ra sees all this, and when the class is on break, goes over and tells Good Wife to have strength. As she walks away, she turns up her lip before smugly leaving Good Wife by herself.

The next day, Good Wife calls her old supervisor and says that she'll do the interview. The supervisor says "You shouldn't be like this, how many times did we call for an interview?! Now you just want to use us. It's already been seven years since we stopped gossiping about you."
Even though she's mad, she's been ordered to give the interview, so Good Wife will be on air soon.

Dreamer gets off work and Hyun Woo is waiting for her out front. They end up walking in the park, talking about their pasts. He tells her that his father died, when he was a young kid, and at the funeral, he saw the laborer's packing the earth with their feet. Even though that's normal, it was really shocking to him at the time. Now he lives with his mother, a nurse, and they're happy together.
She also shares that she lost her mother, when she was three, and since then, has been raised by her sister.
They go to dinner, and he says that he wants to start over again as if they were strangers. He seems happy with the decision, but she looks out-of-sorts for the rest of the evening.

Afterward, Hyun Woo goes to pick up his mother from her shift at the hospital. As they drive home, he looks so content that she guesses that he has a special girl in his life, although he doesn't deny it, Hyun Woo does not give any real information about who the girl is or how they met. They seem really easy with each other and loving.

When she gets home, Dreamer finds her friend from Jeju, Yeon Soo in the house. She's in Seoul to get her husband, Dae Hyun, to go back home, since he's been there since the radio interview. When they're alone she tells Yeon Soo that she's having doubts because, even though she's known Tae Wook for three years, they've only been dating for a few months. When Dreamer opens up saying "I'm not sure I love Tae Wook"
Yeon Soo asks, "Then who do  you love"
Dreamer tells her about sleeping with Hyun Woo, and Yeon Soo beats her. When they settle down, Dreamer says that she thinks Hyun Woo is her soul mate and Yeon Soo just thinks it's wedding blues or cold feet. That there's no such thing as soul mates and should be good to the guy who has been looking at only her for three years.

The next day, Fishwife is on the phone arguing loudly in the hallway about the cost of wedding clothes, of course her VP sees her and gives her the evil eye. She goes upstairs and worries about how to make him like her. She remembers her Jang Soo's advice to flatter and brown-nose and starts imagining. Should she be a Chinese Masseuse? A golf caddy? Or his hiking buddy?
He catches her day-dreaming and she stops on an imagined wink. Then one of her subordinates makes it worse by saying that she has a call for discounted fabric. The VP storms out say that he's removing her name from the promotion consideration list, and that he'll sue her for sexual harassment, the wink. She tries to chase after him, but only gets him more agitated.

Back at their cafe, Dreamer tells Hyun Woo that she doesn't want to start over with him, and that he should have  a good life. This time he lets her leave.

At the Clueless household, Seung Soo is packing for a business trip to Busan. He pack some red heart covered briefs and Clueless gets suspicious, she asks if she and their son should just join him there. He, of course, says no, and after getting her to promise not to follow him, he leaves the house.
She, of course, follows him. Hiding behind the logo for the news station. When she sees Cynthia getting a hand into the bus from her husband, she follows to the train station, and then onto the train.

At home Fishwife  asks Dreamer about the wedding gifts, since she's still in a bad mood, she tells Fishwife to do whatever is appropriate. Fishwife says "What, you shouldn't say that, since this is you're wedding."
"Fine! Maybe I just won't get married then!"

The next day Dreamer and Tae Wook sit in front of his mother, at the house and she tells Dreamer "Don't bother with the extravagance of preparing wedding gifts".
"What about the bed linens?"
"Just bring your body to the ceremony, and we'll take care of the rest."
Tae Wook tries to intervene but is shushed. Mother-in-law says "We never except gifts for our children's weddings, isn't that right Good Wife?"
Good Wife answers yes, and looking embarrassed leaves the room. Finally Mother-in-law looks at the birthday gift that Dreamer bought, she says it's lovely, but he look on her face says that she hates it. When Dreamer and Tae Wook leave. She says "How dare she try to prepare at her level" and knocks the gift away.
Outside, Dreamer is stomping away from the house, with Tae Wook close behind, when he gets her to stop he asks "What's wrong"
"You know right? You've killed me twice now." She walks away and he lets her.

As she drives home, she ignores Tae Wook's call, and again thinks of Jeju and Hyun Woo. She has to laugh at her own craziness.

As she sleeps at home, she has a nightmare that she's swimming but can't get back to the surface for air. She wakes up and calls Hyun Woo to meet her.
When she arrives, Hyun Woo is across the street, and she runs into his arms for a hug, and just at the last second, he wraps his arms around her tightly.

MY THOUGHTS

I wonder just how many times Dreamer and Hyun Woo are going to break up in this show, I mean it's been like three times already, and it's only the end of episode 4! I'm sure sooner or later HW will find out about Tae Wook and feel the need to break up... I think this is the first real thing that I'm going to complain about with this show. Tedious, endlessly breaking up.

Another thing I'm wondering  about is, are all the women going to become friends? For some reason I thought that was going to happen, but they haven't made any moves to make that happen. As it is, all of them are connect one way or another, but I was kinda hoping for a sisterhood from this show.

The park scenery in this episode was really breathtaking. I'm jealous just thinking of them walking in those parks whenever they want to.

Lastly, this show is really making me think that some families just don't mix. I've never believed that wealth and status were factors against a couple getting together, and for the most part, it isn't a big part of how TW and Dreamer get along, but when you think about how different their families are, and how she will be expected to live according to HIS family rules.... I would run right into Hyun Woo's lovely arms as well.
